  • Shipping your canvas artwork unstreteched in a roll is a common and effective method for ensuring the safe delivery of your piece, especially for larger works. Here's what this means and why it's beneficial for you:

    What Does It Mean?

When artwork is shipped unstreteched, the canvas is carefully removed from its wooden frame (stretcher bars) and rolled up for transport. This method significantly reduces the risk of damage during shipping, as rolled canvases are less prone to tears, dents, or punctures. The rolled canvas is then placed in a sturdy, protective tube to ensure it arrives in perfect condition.

Why Is This Better for You?

    1. Safety: Rolling the canvas minimizes the risk of damage during transit, which can sometimes occur with large, stretched pieces. The tube provides a strong, protective barrier.

    2. Cost-Effective: Shipping a rolled canvas is often more cost-effective than shipping a fully stretched piece, especially for international deliveries. This savings can be passed on to you.

    3. Flexibility: Once the canvas arrives, you have the flexibility to choose how it is framed and displayed. You can have it stretched onto a new frame by a local framer, allowing you to match the frame to your décor or personal preference.

What to Do Once It Arrives

    1. Unpacking: Carefully unpack the tube and unroll the canvas in a clean, dry space. Allow it to lay flat to relax the material after being rolled up.

    2. Stretching: Take the canvas to a professional framer who can stretch it back onto wooden stretcher bars or stretch it yourself. I will be happy to provide instructions. This is a straightforward process that any reputable framer can handle. They can also assist in choosing a frame if you desire one.

    3. Framing (Optional): If you wish, while you get the work stretched you can select a frame to complement the artwork and your space. The framer can handle both the stretching and framing in one step.

By shipping the canvas unstreteched, I can ensure that your artwork arrives safely and cost-effectively, ready to be displayed in the way that best suits your style and space.
